Cobourg Police – Cobourg Woman Charged with Assaulting Peace Officer, Intoxicated in a Public Place (No Name Given)

A 54-year-old Cobourg woman is facing charges after an incident early Tuesday morning.

On Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at 1:00 a.m., police responded to a noise disturbance on King Street West.

An individual was observed riding a bicycle eastbound on King Street West, yelling obscenities. Police detected a strong odour of alcohol on the individual’s breath when approached.

After several warnings, police arrested the individual for being intoxicated in a public place. The adult woman kicked the arresting officer during the arrest and made racial slurs.

As a result, a 54-year-old Cobourg woman was charged with the following offences:

1. Being intoxicated in a public place contrary to s. 31(1)(a) LLCA

2. Assaulting a peace officer contrary to s. 270(1)(a) CC

The accused was released with a future court date.
