U16 AA Nighthawks to Compete for OMHA Championship this Weekend in Kingston

The Northumberland Nighthawks Behan Construction U16 AA team will compete for the Ontario Minor Hockey Association championship this weekend in Kingston.

They qualified for their respective OMHA Championship Weekend by winning the Lakeshore League playdown finals with wins over the Whitby Wildcats and Belleville Bulls. The Nighthawks were 15-15-2 during the regular season.

All OMHA games will be held at the Invista Centre in Kingston, starting Friday at 10 a.m. for the Nighthawks when they take on the Barrie Colts. That evening, they’ll face the Niagara Falls Flyers at 8 p.m.

Northumberland will conclude its round-robin schedule Saturday at 2 p.m. against the Orangeville Flyers.

Also competing in the other division are the Belle River Canadiens, Newmarket Renegades, Milton Winterhawks and Belleville.

Semifinals are scheduled for Sunday morning at 8 and 8:15 a.m. followed by the OMHA championship final that afternoon at 2 p.m.
