Cobourg Cougars Fall to Trenton 4-2 in Playoff Series Opener

Two goals late in the second period propelled the Trenton Golden Hawks to a 4-2 win over the Cobourg Cougars in the opening game of their Ontario Junior Hockey League playoff series Friday night at the Duncan MacDonald Memorial Gardens in Trenton.
Kallaway Mercer scored both Cobourg goals as the game was tied 1-1 after the first period and 2-2 early in the second. Adam O’Marra, on a power play, Matt Cato, Mitch Lafay and Jack Natyshak replied for Trenton.
Game 2 of the best-of-seven series is scheduled for Monday night, 7 p.m., at the Cobourg Community Centre.
