VOS Theatre has announced a White Christmas gala fundraiser at the Victoria Hall Concert Hall Nov. 26.

The centrepiece will be a screening of the beloved holiday movie of the same name, starring Bing Crosby, Rosemary Clooney, Danny Kaye and Vera-Ellen. The evening begins with a pre-gala cocktail and light refreshments at 7 p.m., along with a silent auction featuring art and artisanal products donated from local businesses.

The screening begins at 8 p.m., with a dessert-bar intermission and 50-50 draw, and concluding with a live performance.

“We are delighted to offer our local audiences a viewing of this holiday classic film – and VOS favourite production – to celebrate both the start of the holiday season, and our official launch of the 2023 VOS theatre season,” said Joel Varty – VOS President and cast member of the 2016 VOS production of White Christmas, playing the role of Bob Wallace.

“We’re inviting our audience members to visit the VOS costume department, borrow one of the outfits from our theatre performance of the show to wear to the gala, and get into the spirit with some good food and a special live performance.”

It’s an all-ages event, and tickets are now on sale at the VOS website at $75 (with tax-deductible receipt issued) at vostheatre.com Tickets are also available at the door on a cash-only basis.

Proceeds from the evening support the organizations bursaries and scholarships which include the Ruth Harcort and Garth Watson scholarships that support local secondary-school graduates who have made a contribution to arts in the community.

The VOS is a vibrant not-for-profit theatre group which has been presenting professional-quality entertainment on the Victoria Hall Concert Hall stage since 1990. Drawing on a highly talented membership of actors, musicians, dancers and singers from across Northumberland County and area, the VOS has a long-standing tradition of providing talented local youth with opportunities to learn all facets of theatre production, both on stage and behind the scenes.
