Peterborough County OPP – Traffic Complaint Leads to Charges (Name Released)

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to multiple traffic complaints regarding a possible impaired driver on Highway 28 yesterday afternoon. The vehicle was located at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Buckhorn Road. The driver was found to be under the influence of drugs.

Christopher SAWYERS (age 52) of Municipality of Trent Lakes, has been charged with:

• Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs

• Possession of a Schedule I substance-opioid (other than heroin)

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on September 15, 2022.
