Cobourg Police – Courtice Man Charged with Obstruct and Possession (No Name Released)

A Courtice man arrested on the strength of a warrant has been charged with obstructing police and possession.

Just before 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2022, police observed a man near Spring Street and King Street in Cobourg currently wanted on the strength of an outstanding unendorsed Bench warrant held by the Northumberland OPP. When police approached the man and advised him that he was under arrest, the man ran from the officer.

Police safely made the arrest a short distance away. During the arrest, police located a quantity of suspected crystal Methamphetamine. As a result, the 37-year-old Courtice man was charged with the following offences:

1. Obstruct police officer, contrary to section 129(a) of the Criminal Code

2. Possession of substance in Schedule I-Crystal Methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act

The man was released on an undertaking and transported to the Northumberland OPP detachment.
