Cobourg Police – Numerous Charges Following Traffic Stop (No Name Released)

Port Hope resident charged after police conduct traffic stop

On Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 10:26 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop near College Street and James Street in the Town of Cobourg.

As a result of the police investigation, the driver was arrested for possession of a schedule 1 substance. Upon arrest, police located a quantity of suspected crystal methamphetamine and cocaine.

The 22-year-old man from Port Hope was charged with the following offences:

1. Improper number plate light, contrary to sec 62(19) of the Highway Traffic Act

2. Driver Fail to surrender license, contrary to sec 33(1) Of the Highway Traffic Act

3. Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available, contrary to sec 12(1) of the Cannabis Control Act

4. Possession of a schedule 1 Substance (cocaine) contrary to sec 4(1) of the Controlled drugs and substance act

5. Possession of a schedule 1 Substance (crystal methamphetamine) contrary to sec 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act

6. Fail to surrender insurance card, contrary to section 3 (1) Of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

7. Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available, contrary to section 42(1)(b) of the Liquor Licence and Control Act

The man was released on an undertaking with a court date scheduled for July 6, 2022.
