Cobourg Police – Cobourg Resident Charged with Theft (No Name Released)

Cobourg resident arrested for theft after being identified on video surveillance.

On the evening of May 25, 2022, police received a report of theft from a business located in the north end of Cobourg. The caller reported that a man selected a variety of merchandise and left the store without paying.

Through available video surveillance footage, police identified a person of interest.

As a result of the police investigation, a 30-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with the following offences:

1. Theft Under $5000 contrary to Section 334(b) of the Criminal Code

2. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to Section 355(b) of the Criminal Code

3. Two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation contrary to Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code

The accused was released on an undertaking with a court date of July 6, 2022.
