Cobourg Legion Minor Softball Organization is promoting two upcoming virtual umpire clinics for any students looking to take on the position and earn some extra money this season.

The first online intermediate clinic will be held Saturday, May 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for 15 and 16 year olds. According to Softball Ontario, the Intermediate Umpire clinic is designed for young officials under 16 to be able to officiate at house league games and to prepare them as they advance in their umpiring career.

The online junior development clinic is Wednesday, May 11 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. for 13 and 14 year olds and is designed to meet the needs of the young novice umpire. The clinic covers umpire signals, using the Rule Book, game management techniques, the role of the umpire, umpire responsibilities and the rules

Participants must be turning 13 in the year of the clinic, but can be 12 when the clinic takes place.

Cost is $55 plus HST for each participant. To register, check out softballontario.ca/umpire.
