Northumberland County 2022 Road Construction Underway

With the construction season officially underway, Northumberland County has released its 2022 Road Construction Program, including a detailed list and map outlining planned work. The 2022 program includes annual road renewal and resurfacing as well as the replacement or repair of bridges, culverts and intersections. Northumberland County is responsible for preserving and maintaining a network of 500 kms of roads and 112 bridges and culverts to ensure the safety of motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.

Highlights of the 2022 Road Construction Program include:
· 13.5 kms of asphalt resurfacing;
· 16.2 kms of road surface treatment;
· 39 kms of crack sealing and asphalt preservation;
· Rehabilitation of Dartford Bridge (Phase Two) in Trent Hills;
· Loomis Bridge replacement on Pinewood School Road in Brighton;
· Campbellford Bridge expansion joint replacement in Trent Hills;
· Culvert rehabilitation at three locations in Alnwick-Haldimand;
· Intersection improvements on County Road 18 at Telephone Road and Danforth Road n Hamilton Township; and
· Railway crossing safety improvements in Brighton.

During road construction season, motorists are reminded to allow additional travel time, watch for changing road conditions and obey all temporary posted signs in the construction zones.

Construction crews will be working hard this season to help improve our local roads and infrastructure. For your safety and the safety of workers, please be patient and drive with care.
