This Derby was first started in late 80’s held at George Ryken’s pond at his farm just north of Castleton.
The tournament over the years has been put on by the Warkworth Service Club which George was a member of. The BBQ portion and any raffle tables were through Warkworth Minor Hockey.
As the membership of the service club dropped and the original members are into there early 80’s it has become difficult for them to host.
The Castleton Sports Club was asked to take it on and unanimously agreed.
