Castleton Sports Club is Hosting Annual Youth Fishing Derby

This Derby was first started in late 80’s held at George Ryken’s pond at his farm just north of Castleton.

The tournament over the years has been put on by the Warkworth Service Club which George was a member of. The BBQ portion and any raffle tables were through Warkworth Minor Hockey.

As the membership of the service club dropped and the original members are into there early 80’s it has become difficult for them to host.

The Castleton Sports Club was asked to take it on and unanimously agreed.

The event runs from Saturday April 30th 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday May 1 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There are a fantastic amount of items up for grabs from tournament partners “sponsors”

$4000.00 worth of items to be raffled or prizes for biggest fish and others.

Castleton Sports Club will providing onsite BBQ for burgers, dogs and other items for sale.

Any proceeds are going to the club to run youth programs.
