Cobourg Police – Theft Over $5,000 and Warrant Arrest (Name Released)

A Montreal man wanted on a warrant for theft has turned himself in to police.

In August 2020, Cobourg Police Service began an investigation into a report of a theft of manufacturing equipment from a commercial property in the Town of Cobourg. The reported theft occurred in March 2020, and the stolen equipment was valued at over $5,000. Police were able to identify a person of interest as a former employee of the company but were unable to locate him.

As a result, a warrant for his arrest was issued.

On Monday, April 4, 2022, 53-year-old Thomas PECNIK of Montreal, Quebec, attended the Cobourg Police Service to turn himself in on the outstanding warrant. As a result, he was charged with the following offences:

1. Theft Over $5,000 contrary to section 334(a) of the Criminal Code

2. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 contrary to section 355(a) of the Criminal Code

PECNIK was released on an undertaking with a court date of May 18, 2022, at 9:00 a.m
