City of Kawartha Lakes OPP Investigating After Disturbance in Eldon Township

Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating a disturbance in Eldon Township.

On April 12, 2022, at approximately 8:45 p.m., OPP officers responded to a disturbance call involving a firearm at a rural address in Eldon Township. Officers located a person on the property suffering from life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to a Toronto trauma centre.

The investigation remains ongoing with members of the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP Crime Unit, Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and Forensic Identificat ion Services (FIS), under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).

There is no threat to public safety at this time, however police ask that the public avoid the area while the investigation continues.

Residents can expect to see an increase in police presence over the next few days and updates will be provided when available.
