Four months after the Cobourg and District Sports Hall of Fame held their big induction ceremonies for the 2020 hall-of-fame additions, they are inviting you to hear the names of the 2022 inductees.

There will also be information about the new Ross Quigley Youth In Sports Award – first announced at that Nov. 12 banquet.

The press release invites you to come hear the news on Sunday March 6 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Grand Hall of the Cobourg Community Centre.

Since March 2017, a dedicated group of volunteers has been collecting and cataloguing sports memorabilia and historical information to preserve the rich sports legacy of our communities, with generous support from community groups and individuals in terms of donations – financial, as well as materials and services.

The November banquet was actually the induction of the 2020 individuals announced in early March 2020 at the CCC. Within days, COVID-19 had shut down any hope of an official induction banquet in 2020 and much of 2021. Now they are ready for a 2022 induction.

Over the past several months, nominations have been requested from the community. A separate selection committee reviewed the nominations and selected the inductees who will be announced March 6. The formal induction will take place at the Cobourg Best Western Inn on June 17.

The CCC is located at 750 D’Arcy St., and everyone is invited.
