City of Kawartha Lakes OPP – Driver Arrested After Collision on Highway 7

Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a driver who was found to be impaired at a two vehicle collision, where one of the vehicles caught fire.

Shortly after 7:30 pm on February 4, 2022, City of Kawartha Lakes OPP, Fire and EMS attended a two vehicle collision on Highway 7, in Emily Township. One of the vehicles at scene was fully engulfed in flames and extinguished by the Fire Department. No one was seriously injured in the collision.

Officers investigated and determine d one of the drivers to be under the influence of alcohol.

Jason Hughes, 39 years-of-age, of Lindsay has been charged with; Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration of (80 plus) and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on February 17, 2022.

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle impounded for seven days.
