Below is a summary of key items discussed at the Municipality of Port Hope Council and Committee of the Whole Meetings held on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. Council Meeting:
The following are highlights from the Council Meeting.

PHAI Project and Municipal Responsibilities

Council repealed By-law 08/2016, appointment of MPS team leader, and replaced it with By-law 02/2022. This change allows for the integration of PHAI municipal participation into the regular business operations of the Municipality. The former Municipal Project Staff are now part of the Works and Engineering department as the Environmental Remediation division.

 

Committee of the Whole:

The following are highlights from the Committee of the Whole Meeting.

Fourth Quarter (Q4) financial update

Staff provided a report to that details revenues and expenses, purchasing and tax receivables for 2021. It was noted that the value of procurement projects in Q4 of 2021 was $801,137.48. In addition, this report provided a summary of the collection of tax arrears arising from prior years and an update on notable collection activity. The 2021 fourth quarter results will be included in the 2021 Audited Financial Statements.

Wesleyville / OPG lands acquisition

Staff provided a detailed report and presentation outlining a potential land acquisition for the Municipality. At the February 15 Council meeting, Council will be considering a purchase agreement to buy more than 1300 acres in Wesleyville. For a detailed summary, please read our full news release.

Minutes and video recordings

Meeting minutes will be available pending approval at the next Council meeting on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at which point they will become the official record of the meeting.
