Quinte West OPP – Complainant Dragged After Truck Stolen in Frankford

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges against a male following the theft of a motor vehicle in Frankford.

On December 14, 2021 at approximately 10:20 a.m., Quinte West OPP officers were dispatched to a complaint of a stolen pickup truck from Victoria Avenue in Frankford. The complainant reported that after observing someone stealing their truck, they attempted to stop them, however ended up being dragged by the vehicle for approximately two blocks before they were able to let go, suffering only minor injuries. The accused is then alleged to have driven the truck onto a walking trail in Frankford where they almost struck several workers and a pedestrian. Officers quickly located and arrested the accused after the vehicle became heavily damaged and unable to drive following the crossing of a narrow pedestrian bridge.

Adam DEMPSEY-ELHOUNI, 33 years old of Quinte West has been charged with the following offences:

  • Theft of a motor vehicle;
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000;
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle; and
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused was held in custody and was scheduled to appear for bail at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on December 15, 2021.
