The musical Christmas display of lights is back at Fellowship Baptist Church in Cobourg.

On December 1, 2021, the second annual interactive Christmas light display kicked off starting just after 5 p.m. with a number of families in their vehicles ready for the display of lights accompanied by Christmas music.

John Murray is one of the volunteers who helped create the lights at the church located at 469 Elgin Street West in Cobourg.

“Last year they decided with the lock down and people not being able to get out and about it would be nice to have some Christmas lights to help people relieve a bit of stress.”

Hundreds of vehicles stopped by last year, so it was a given the volunteers would do it again for the people to enjoy.

There were many people who gave positive feedback on the display, but Murray said they also found out a lot of the people who watched the show didn’t realize they could tune into the music on their car radio.

It took six people approximately 100 hours to create this years display up and synchronize it to the music.

To kick-off the display the church was offering free hot chocolate and cookies/candy-canes for the families.

“The main focus as far as we’re concerned is the manger scene and the Bethlehem star behind it.”

“I think it’s neat to be able to see the lights flashing to the music and hopefully lift peoples spirits a little bit.”

The display runs from 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. until New Years.
