Vaccination passports or not, Cobourg’s Chief Administrative Officer Tracey Vaughan reminds everyone making their Thanksgiving plans that Ontario is still in Stage 3 of its reopening plan – which limits social gatherings to 25 people indoors and 200 outdoors.

Vaughan’s reminder came Monday as part of the COVID-19 update she delivers at every committee-of-the-whole meeting of council.

“While more people are vaccinated, the risk of getting the virus remains a reality, especially where we see the highly contagious Delta variant,” Vaughan said.

“The Town of Cobourg encourages everyone to stay healthy and safe over the Thanksgiving weekend, and make sure you take all safety precautions.”

Looking ahead, she added, “The Emergency Control Group is reviewing Remembrance Day, Halloween and Christmas events in terms of what they will look like for 2021.”

Victoria Hall, the Cobourg Community Centre and the Venture 13 Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre have now opened with proof of vaccination required for admission.

“Staff report all spectators and participants (at CCC) are adjusting well, and they have not had any concerns,” she said.
“At Venture 13, we are seeing all users are also accepting the vaccine requirements, and it has not impacted our ability to rent those spaces.”

In terms of vaccinations, she added, 85.5% of the Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District residents have their first dose and 80.7% have both – “or 138,701 individuals,” Vaughan said.

Vaccination clinics are being held at secondary schools and mobile clinics, with no appointment necessary. You can also check the Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit website for other vaccination opportunities.
