Pedestrian In Critical Condition After Being Struck By Vehicle In Cobourg

One person was airlifted to hospital after being struck by a car in Cobourg on Wednesday, September 1, 2021.

At approximately 5:40 p.m. emergency services were dispatched to the area of Ontario Street, just north of Elgin Street.

A southbound SUV went into the northbound lane, over the curb and struck a pedestrian on the sidewalk before continuing on and striking a tree at the entrance to The Mill Restaurant/Cobourg Creek Golf Course.

An adult, six-year-old and infant were in the vehicle were all transported to hospital. The six-year-old sustained a serious, but non-life threatening injury.

The driver and infant received minor injuries.

The person who was struck was airlifted from near the scene to a Toronto trauma centre in critical condition.

Ontario Street, just north of Elgin Street remains closed until at least midnight.

Members of the OPP Technical Collision Investigators have been called to the scene.

A German Shepherd dog escaped from the vehicle and the family is looking for the dog. If anyone spots the dog his name is Max and he has a blue collar and blue leash. Please phone 905-375-9662.
