Golden Hawks Announce Co-Captains for 2021-22 Season

TRENTON, ON - NOVEMBER 27: Dalton Bancroft #37 of the Trenton Golden Hawks pursues the play during the third period at the Duncan McDonald Memorial Gardens on November 27, 2020 in Ontario, Canada

The Trenton Golden Hawks Coaching Staff has announced Co-Captains for the 2021-22 season.  Head Coach/GM Peter Goulet says the responsibilities will go to Brannon Butler and Dalton Bancroft.

Goulet says, “When selecting the guys to wear letters, you are looking for men who will lead by example.  They are guys who will talk to teammates, be accountable to everyone on the team, on the bench, and in the community.  They are an extension of the coaching staff.”

“Brannon Butler is a young man who wears his heart on his sleeve.  He is tough as nails and an underrated skater.  He is a great person and he really wants to win.  Dalton Bancroft is a local young man and the fans love him.  After watching Dalton develop over the last few years, I can see he will be a great choice.  This is my first time in my coaching career with co-captains, and it is going to work out just fine.”

“I have never been a captain before and I am really excited,” says Bancroft.  “It means a lot.  We have had a chance to get back on the ice, and it was important for both the returnees and the new players to bond together.  I think working with Butler as Co-Captains will be great.  When I played against him (Butler), he was the hardest guy to face off against.”

Butler says, “This is the first time I have been a captain.  There are two roles for the person wearing a “C”.  The first is to let your play speak for itself, while helping to hold everyone accountable.  This is an honour for me, especially for a club with such a winning pedigree.  We are deep, with great experience, and will be a tough team to play against.”

The Trenton Golden Hawks home opener is Friday October 1, 2021, when they meet the Cobourg Cougars.  For ticket details, email goldenhawksbusiness@gmail.com
