Peterborough County OPP – Driver Charged with Impaired After Collision Involving Stolen Vehicle

(SELWYN TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on Fifth Line at approximately 6:45pm yesterday evening. The vehicle left the roadway and entered the ditch. The uninjured driver was found to be under the influence of drugs. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle had been involved in a carjacking in the City of Peterborough at approximately 5:50pm.  

Zachary BISAILLON (age 29) of Batchewana First Nation, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

• Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs

• Dangerous operation

• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

• Driving while under suspension

The accused was released from Peterborough County OPP custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on July 6, 2021. Custody of the accused was transferred to the Peterborough Police Service as further charges are pending.

The Peterborough County OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming drugs. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
