In City Hall, Community

With council having approved the Summer Pop-Up Restaurant Program, local restaurants, pubs and charitable organizations are now being invited to participate.

The Summer Pop-Up Restaurant Program aims to help support local businesses and community organizations by providing new or additional outdoor event space that can be operated safely within provincial and municipal government regulations that are in place during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is open to all Town of Cobourg restaurants and pubs, as well as charitable organizations and service clubs that serve Northumberland County.

These businesses and organizations will be able to book one of two locations for a four-day weekend slot (Thursday to Sunday) between June 17 and the end of September. These locations are the fenced-and-paved area to the west of the Victoria Park Canteen and the grass area in front of the Cobourg Yacht Club. Both locations can be licensed for the sale of liquor (which will be addressed in the application process).

Applications for one of these slots must include the Municipal Event Application, an Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario Permit and a COVID-19 risk plan.

A few additional rules apply.
· Tents are not permitted unless approved by the Community Events Co-ordinator

· Each business or organization can book a maximum of three weekends, so that there is adequate opportunity for all applicants

·The maximum occupancy limit for each space will be determined by the Town of Cobourg, based on health and safety guidelines from the Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit and any COVID-19 restrictions in effect from the Province of Ontario

Eligible businesses and organizations can contact Community Events Co-ordinator Jackie Davis (at 905-373-7976 or jchapmandavis@cobourg.ca) to begin the application process and reserve a date.
