Art Gallery of Northumberland – Spotlight Series 3 Goes Digital

In Community, Upcoming Events

The Art Gallery of Northumberland (AGN) is thrilled to announce the return of Spotlight Series, the annual arts education fundraiser known for shining the spotlight on artists from across Northumberland County. Typically presented to a live audience inside the gallery as a ticketed event, Spotlight Series 3 will be presented in a digital format and screened in community locations across the County including Campbellford, Warkworth and Cobourg, with safe measures in place.

Bridging music and multimedia and the visual arts, Spotlight Series 3 features Kate Boothman, Cale Crowe, Oli
Goldsmith, Kate Hessin, Ian Jack, and Jennifer Trefiak sharing their stories, passion and process in a “mini doc” series of short artist profiles. “Support for the arts is vital. We want to keep hearing from the outstanding artists from across the county. And we want to meet the community where they’re at to celebrate and engage with the arts, essential more
than ever to our wellbeing,” says series producer Elizabeth Palermo. “What’s exciting is going digital allows us to take
Spotlight Series to the streets and also reach expanded audiences online.”

Spotlight Series 3 is a FREE event made possible by local sponsors and the Ontario Trillium Foundation Resilient
Communities grant. The first two Spotlight Series raised $10,000 and continues to support online arts education
initiatives like the Art to Go kits, which afforded art activity kits to Northumberland families through a partnership with
Local Food for Local Good. Previously, we partnered with Rebound Child and Youth Services to send children to AGN’s Summer Art Camp. Together we have brought community engagement art projects that perhaps would not have
happened without the support of the Spotlight Series fundraiser.

As Northumberland County’s largest public art gallery, the AGN plays a leading role on local, regional and national stages through exceptional exhibitions, programs and collaborations. It strives to be an inspiring institution that serves as an educational resource, a hub of artistic and cultural energies for local citizens, and a tourist attraction for all audiences.
