Cobourg – Transit Routed Altered Due to Golden Plough Lodge Rebuild

In City Hall

By Cecilia Nasmith

The Town of Cobourg advises residents of a long-term adjustment to its transit route, with the stop located at 580 Courthouse Rd. (in front of Halcyon Place apartments) will be temporarily removed for the duration of the Golden Plough Lodge reconstruction.

As the town worked with Northumberland County staff on options, it was determined that rerouting the bus stop and creating a turn-around for the larger buses would be a costly and challenging option. Therefore, from May 3, 2021, through the summer of 2023, this transit stop will be removed. Transit riders using this stop are encouraged, instead, to use the next-nearest stop at the intersection of Elgin Street and Courthouse Road.

The town also issued a reminder that non-medical masks or face coverings are mandatory on all buses and at transit shelters to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.

Also, with the provincial shutdown and Stay-At-Home Order currently in effect, riders are urged to limit their use of public transit to essential trip purposes only,
