Update – Northumberland OPP – Pedestrian Airlifted to Trauma Centre After Being Struck by Dumptruck

Members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating an incident where a pedestrian was struck by a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) while crossing a street at the intersection of Orchard Road and Percy Street located just north of the town of Colborne.

At approximately 4:00 pm on Wednesday March 10, 2021, a 30-year-old female was walking southbound crossing Orchard Road with her two children (a toddler and an infant). A dump truck that that was travelling northbound turned left at the intersection to head west on Orchard Road and struck the female. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital by paramedics then air lifted to a trauma center in Toronto to receive treatment for serious injuries sustained from the collision. The children were taken to a nearby hospital by paramedics for precautionary measures where the infant (age 4 months) received treatment for minimal injuries.

The intersection of Orchard Road and Percy Street was closed for several hours while OPP members trained in collision reconstruction measured and documented the scene.

The Northumberland OPP continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this collision.
