Quinte West OPP – Person Charged After Child Consumed Cannabis Edibles

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Quinte West resident following a child ingesting cannabis.

On February 19, 2021, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Quinte West OPP responded to a residence on Fish and game Club Road in Quinte West after a 911 call regarding a 3 year old child ingesting a high quantity of cannabis edibles. The child was transported to hospital by ambulance in life threatening, but stable condition. The Quinte West OPP with the assistance of the Quinte West Crime Unit conducted an investigation and as a result one person was arrested.

A 38 year old male of Quinte West was charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on March 18, 2021.
