Durham Police – Suspect Arrested in Human Trafficking Investigation

Investigators have arrested two more suspects in relation to a human trafficking investigation from December 2020.

Further information was that the suspect, Laurance SHIELDS forced the female victim into the sex trade industry and exploited her across the province with the assistance of Kevin BANDY.

Laurance SHIELDS, age 42 of No Fixed Address, faces numerous charges including: Procuring Exercise Control; Material Benefit Trafficking Person Over 18; Material Benefit from Sexual Services; Trafficking in Persons by Recruiting and Obtaining Sexual Services for Consideration. He was held for a bail hearing.

Kevin BANDY, aged 48 of Newcastle was charged with Trafficking in Persons by Recruiting/Exercising Control. He was held for a bail hearing.

Investigators want to ensure there are no other victims.
