Peterborough County OPP – Driver Charged with Drug Offences at RIDE Program

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle at a RIDE program on County Road 2 at approximately 10:45pm last night. The driver was found to be in possession of approximately 30 pounds of dried cannabis, 750 grams of cannabis/psilocybin edibles, $9,700 in Canadian currency and other drug paraphernalia.
Mohammad RAHMATI (age 24) of Newmarket, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
• Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking
• Possession for the purpose of distributing
• Possession of over 30 grams of dried cannabis (or equivalent) in a public place
• Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime-over $5000
• Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
• Driver-fail to properly wear seatbelt
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on February 17, 2021.
