The Northumberland Nighthawks hockey organization held a “Sticks Out for Cormac – Praying for the Kerin Family.”

Word spread quickly on social media with the post going up on Monday.

Houses in in Port Hope, Cobourg and rural settings putting their hockey sticks out and leaving the front light on in support of the Kerin family.

Twelve-year-old Cormac died in an accident and his 10-year-old sister, Shea, remains in critical condition.

“Our organization is hurting and one way to help with this type of grief is to come together with each other,” said President of the Northumberland Nighthawks Michelle Brown.

“”Sticks out for Cormac” is an opportunity for our players to honour their lost teammate and stand in solidarity with their entire Nighthawks family.”

Along with putting out hockey sticks,-year-old Maeson Hogg put out a stuffed animal on her front porch in Harwood.

“I hope that everybody puts there sticks out for Cormac, but I hope Shea is able to get back on her feet to dance and play soccer.”

With a community hurting by the loss, Brown said sports organizations from all over have thrown their arms around the Nighthawks during this difficult time.

“We are all so very appreciative.”
