Update – Northumberland OPP – Arrest Made in Harwood Break and Enter

On October 22, 2019, members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a residence on Short Street for a report of break and enter.

Between 5:00 am and 11:30 am suspect(s) entered the home through the back door of the residence. The door had been damaged and forced open. The home had been rummaged through and several items were stolen including Canadian mint coins from 1995 and 1998, Vietnamese currency, jewellery, camera’s and various other items.

On the date of the break and enter police seized articles that were located at the scene. Those articles were sent off to the Centre of Forensic Sciences, where a DNA match was obtained.

On October 14, 2020, Community Street Crime Unit members from the Northumberland OPP arrested and charged Alan James BROWN (age 39) of Oshawa, Ontario, with:

– Theft Under $5,000
– Break, Enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence
– Mischief under $5,000

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on December 16, 2020.
