Northumberland OPP – Youth Charged with Mischief

The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a youth in relation to a mischief investigation that occurred at King Edward Park, located on Elizabeth Street in the Municipality of Brighton.

On September 22, 2020, at approximately 8:40 pm, unknown individual(s) entered the grounds of King Edward Park and damaged equipment that was affixed to the canteen located on the property.

On Monday October 5, 2020, police were provided with photos that were retrieved from the property’s video surveillance system. These photos were distributed to local media outlets requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect(s).

On Tuesday October 6, 2020, a 13-year-old youth from Brighton, Ontario, was arrested and charged with:

Mischief – destroys or damages property

The accused youth, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in December 2020.
