Northumberland OPP – Arrest Made in Port Hope Police Service/OPP Investigation

On the 13th of September 2020, at approximately 10:44 PM, members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received reports of a suspicious person on Highway 401 near Burnham Street, and then further received information regarding a stolen motor vehicle that had become involved in a collision in the area, on Highway 401. Police received additional reports of a suspicious person attending various addresses in Hamilton Township as well as within the town of Port Hope. Efforts to locate the person were made by the OPP emergency response team, OPP canine unit as well as members and Port Hope Police Service (PHPS).

On the 14th of September 2020, at approximately 5:00 PM members of the PHPS located the suspect in the town of Port Hope and effected an arrest, and transferred custody to the OPP.

Accused Emanuel SUTHERLAND, age 27, of the town of Cobourg, stands charged with the following offences:

· Fail to Comply with Probation Order
· Fail to Comply with Probation Order
· Fail to Comply with Release Order
· Theft of a Motor Vehicle
· Break and Enter

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on the 20th of October 2020.
