Peterborough Police Service Quiet On Alleged Bomb Threat In Alderville

In Police Blotter

The Peterborough Police Service is saying very little – about a reported bomb threat in Alderville earlier this week.

Northumberland OPP reported to the bomb threat located at 8913 County Road 45 which is the Alderville First Nation Community Centre at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2020.

Alnwick/Haldimand Fire Department along with Northumberland County Paramedics were on standby on County Road 18 and County Road 45.

Northumberland OPP referred all inquiries to the Peterborough Police Service as it was their investigation.

For three days, Media Relations and Communications Coordinator with the Peterborough Police Service, Lauren Gilchrist told Today’s Northumberland it was not a Peterborough Police Service investigation.

After numerous e-mails, Gilchrist stated on Friday, “the investigation is still ongoing at this time. Once the investigation is done we can give more detail around the nature of the incident. There is no concern for public safety.”
