Northumberland OPP – Oshawa Man Charged with Impaired Driving After Collision in Brighton

On Saturday June 20, 2020, at approximately 10:30 pm, members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to a report of a single vehicle collision that occurred south of the rail way tracks in the town of Brighton.

A blue Chevrolet sedan was reported to have been travelling northbound on Cedar Street when it failed to negotiate a turn at the intersection of Prince Edward Street. The vehicle drove over the grassy median, crossed over the street, and then struck a hedge outside of a residential property.

Officers arrived on scene and found the uninjured driver to be under the influence of alcohol.

As a result of the investigation 26-year-old Brett SARAGOZA of Oshawa, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

· Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on August 26, 2020.
