Rebound Child & Youth Services Northumberland – Kilometers for Kids 2020: A Free Virtual Event

In Upcoming Events

Northumberland County – Rebound Child & Youth Services Northumberland (Rebound) is announcing its 6th Annual Kilometers for Kids Run, except this year, it’s free and completely virtual!

While staying within the COVID-19 regulations set by the Government of Ontario, Rebound has made the decision to host its Kilometers for Kids (K4K) fundraising run virtually, and this year the registration fee is being waived! Rebound’s 2019 Run was the largest event to date, garnering over 250 participants and raising over $17,000 to support valuable programs and services for children and youth in the community.

Rebound hopes the opportunity to host this event virtually will encourage even more participants to get involved and help promote both physical and mental wellness.

“The decision to make this year’s Kilometers for Kids Run free and virtual was very simple,” said Carol Beauchamp, Executive Director at Rebound. “Right now, our community needs each other more than ever and because of this we have chosen not to charge a registration fee, making the event accessible to all members of our community during this unprecedented time.”

The virtual format of Kilometers for Kids will introduce new ways for families to get involved together. This includes a “Choose Your Own Challenge,” where families/participants can opt to participate using other forms of physical activity such as skipping and CrossFit.

Meant to bring attention towards community well-being and connectedness, Rebound and its Kilometers for Kids Run Committee are using this year’s Run to spark unity during an anxious time for our community.

The virtual event is scheduled to take place on October 18th and participants can join in for the fun, fitness, and wellness during that week, and they are encouraged to pursue pledges and donations or challenge others to participate.

For 2020, the message is share the word about Rebound and work together on your physical and mental wellness.

Rebound will be posting updates about the event frequently across all of its social media platforms. Please stay tuned!
