Cobourg Police – Male Arrested for Mischief

On Monday, June 1, 2020, at approximately 9:20 pm, officers on general patrol in the downtown core observed a male kicking garbage bags that had been placed on the sidewalk along the roadway. Officers approached the male and asked him to stop. The male ignored all verbal commands and became assaultive towards officers on the scene.

As a result of a subsequent police investigation, 30 year old Michael KITCHEN of Cobourg was arrested and charged with the following:

Assault Peace Officer Contrary to Section 270(1)(a) of the Criminal Code

Mischief – Destroys or Damages Property Contrary to Section 430(1)(a) of the Criminal Code

Fail to Comply with Probation Contrary to Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code.

KITCHEN was held in police custody and scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on June 2, 2020, for a show cause hearing.
