Quinte West OPP Investigation Collision

On May 22, 2020 at approximately 7:30 p.m., a member of the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. The vehicle failed to stop and fled the area. A short time later, officers located a single vehicle collision on Stockdale Road, south of Westlake Road. Two people were transported to hospital, but have since been released from hospital and arrested.

Anthony ANDERSON-KING, age 24 of Scarbor ough, Ontario has been charged with:

Dangerous operation – Criminal Code (CC) sec. 320.13(1);

Operation while prohibited – CC sec. 320.18(1)(a) – two counts;

Flight from peace officer – CC sec. 320.17;

Possession of property obtained by crime-under $5000 – CC sec. 354(1)(a);

Failure to comply with a release order – CC sec. 145(5)(a) – two counts;

Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) sec. 5(2)- three counts, and with

Possession of a Schedule III substance – CDSA sec. 4(1).

The accused has been remanded in custody until a video bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on May 29, 2020.

Nicholas DUGBE, age 23 of Scarborough, Ontario is charged with:

Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime-under $5000 – CC sec. 354(1)(a);

Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – CDSA sec. 5(2) – three counts; and with

Possession of a Schedule III substance -CDSA sec. 4(1).

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on August 10, 2020.

The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) invoked its mandate and is conducting a parallel investigation. As a result the OPP will not be able to provide any further information. Any other inquiries should be directed to SIU Communications at (416) 622-2342.
