Northumberland County Forest Welcomes You Back

In City Hall

By Cecilia Nasmith/Today’s Northumberland
Now that Ontario has announced the reopening of provincial parks, Northumberland County announces that Northumberland County Forest trails reopen to the public Friday – though, at this time, washroom facilities remain closed to ensure the safety of users and staff.

County forest staff thank residents for respecting the trail closures that were put in place in the early days of the pandemic to support community action against the spread of COVID-19. As a continued precaution to protect everyone’s health and safety, forest users are asked to practice physical distancing on the trails, keeping a six-foot distance from other users, and to stay home if you are feeling sick.

All users are also asked to adhere to posted by-laws and provincial guidelines, including:

· Stay on the trail to avoid contact with poison ivy and ticks.

· Ensure dogs are under control, both on the trails and in parking lots.

· Follow trail etiquette and respect other trail users.

· Do not litter – this includes garbage, personal protective equipment and pet waste.

· Do not park along the roadsides. If the parking lot is full, please proceed to another lot at the MacDonald, Carstairs, Beagle Club, Morris or Woodland trailheads.
