Northumberland OPP – Ditched Vehicle Results in Impaired Charges

On Thursday April 16, 2020, just before 6:30 pm members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with emergency personnel responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on County Road 28 just south of Dale Road.

Officers located the silver Hyundai 4 door sedan that had made an abrupt impact into the east side ditch. The driver was found to be uninjured and under the influence of alcohol. The driver was transported to a local area hospital as a precautionary measure then released.

As a result of the investigation 40-year-old Jay Michael KIDD, of Clarington, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

· Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
· Driving while under suspension

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on June 17, 2020.
