Northumberland OPP – Driver Charged with Impaired Driving and Fail To Remain

Members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a collision at approximately 4:45 pm on Sunday April 5, 2020.

A black Jeep SUV was reported to have allegedly struck a pole that was on a residential property of Percy Street near the village of Castleton, the vehicle then left the location with noticible damage to the front end. Officers located the vehicle travelling southbound on County Road 25. There was significant damage to the SUV but no injuries were sustained by the driver.

As a result of the investigation Anthony MITCHELL (age 45) of Cramahe Township, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

· Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
· Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
· Fail to report accident
· Fail to remain

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on June 17, 2020.
