Cobourg Police – Male Arrested for Assault and Causing a Disturbance

On Monday, March 9th, 2020, at approximately 8:20 am, Police attended the area of Covert Street for a report of a Disturbance in which a male had been assaulted.

Police spoke with witnesses at the location who said that a male was screaming death threats at another male. Through investigation Police were able to identify the two persons involved. Chandler Jessup a 22 year old from Cobourg was determined to be the aggressor and found to be violating a non- contact order with the other involved person.

As a result Jessup was arrested by the Cobourg Police Service and Charged with Assault S.266 CC, Uttering Threats S. 264.1(1)(a) CC, Cause Disturbance S. 266 CC, Uttering Threats to Cause Death S.264.1(1)(a). Jessup was also charged with failing to comply with a condition a Judicial Release S.145(3) and failing to Comply with Probation S.733(1).

Jessup was held in custody and will attend a show cause hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice.
