Quinte West OPP – Shoplifting Charges For Four Youths

On Wednesday February 12, 2020, shortly after 5:30 p.m. officers with the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a theft reported at a retail store on Dundas Street East in Trenton. Individuals had departed the scene in a vehicle, which was located a short time later abandoned on George Street in Trenton. The stolen property was recov ered in the vehicle.

Police located and arrested four suspects a short time later. The investigation revealed a connection to a theft at a retail store on Bell Boulevard in the City of Belleville.

Two 14 year olds, a 15 year old, and a 17 year old all from Scarborough have each been charged under the Youth Criminal Justice Act with:
Theft over $5000 – Shoplifting

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

Mischief – Over $5000

The four accused were released on undertakings and are scheduled to appear in court on March 24, 2020, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville. The investigation is continuing at this time.
