Alnwick-Haldimand Replaces Resigned Councillor

In City Hall

By Cecilia Nasmith/Today’s Northumberland
Roseneath farmer Jim Hogg has come out ahead in the application process to fill the council vacancy created recently when Mayor John Logel resigned in January,

Mayor Gail Latchford – who replaced Logel in the mayor’s seat – said Tuesday that it is the same process council used last year to fill the seat left vacant by the passing of long-time Councillor Raymond Benns with Greg Booth.

The official appointment and swearing in will take place at council’s February 20 meeting.

With former Deputy Mayor Latchford moving up to the mayor’s spot upon Logel’s resignation, Councillor Sherry Gibson was appointed Deputy Mayor to fill the vacancy Latchford left.

As mayor, Latchford also serves as the township’s representative on Northumberland County council. At its Jan, 29 meeting, Gibson was sworn in as her alternate.
