Cobourg Council – Council Praises Habitat Work

In City Hall

By Cecilia Nasmith/Today’s Northumberland
Those at Monday’s Cobourg council meeting were complimentary to the work of Habitat For Humanity Northumberland, following the attendance by many of them at the agency’s recent celebration.

Mayor John Henderson pointed out the development soon to come to Daintry Crescent. By his calculations, this may be at least their 40th home in Cobourg.

Deputy Mayor Suzanne Seguin pointed out that they help many more families with repairs and other projects to help them maintain their home ownership. In 2019, she said, volunteers contributed 10,831 hours to the work of the agency.

This includes the operation of their ReStore, whose 2019 sales resulted in $724,000 being reinvested into that work.

Along with the two houses to be relocated to a Daintry Crescent address, Councillor Nicole Beatty added, the two-unit addition to the house on University Avenue West is under construction.
