Update – Peterborough County OPP – Cobourg Man Faces Further Charges

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of a dangerous driving incident involving the Peterborough Police Service which occurred on January 1, 2020 at approximately 11:40am.

The suspect vehicle was involved in a brief pursuit with Peterborough Police Service officers but the pursuit was terminated due to public safety concerns.

At approximately 12:50 pm, the suspect vehicle was located by OPP officers in the town of Balieboro. The driver was arrested and found to be under the influence of drugs.

Mitchell HART (age 27) from Cobourg, Ontario is charged with:

· Flight from peace officer

· Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs

· Dangerous operation

· Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

· Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

The accused is also facing charges from the Peterborough Police Service incident.

The accused was scheduled to appear for a bail hearing earlier today in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.
