Saturday is Hockey Day in Northumberland

Four games of various levels of hockey will be played at the Cobourg Community Centre and also will be broadcast live on YourTV (channel 700 for Cogeco subscribers).

Action gets underway at 1 p.m. with a midget-level game between two West Northumberland Wild girls hockey teams.

The 2:30 p.m. game will feature junior C hockey as the Port Hope Panthers take on the Napanee Raiders in a Provincial Junior Hockey League match-up.

At 4:45 p.m., the Northumberland Nighthawks will host the Pickering Panthers in an Ontario Minor Hockey Association major bantam ‘AA’ contest.

Junior A hockey will conclude the scheduled games as the Cobourg Cougars host the Trenton Golden Hawks in an Ontario Junior Hockey League match-up.

YourTV coverage throughout the day will include other features including interviews with West Northumberland Girls Hockey Association president Shawn Davis, Northumberland Minor Hockey Association president Bill Woodman, Port Hope Panthers coach Shawn Dunbar and captain George Miranda as well as Cobourg Cougars general manager Adam Yahn and OJHL commissioner Marty Savoy.
