Cobourg Offering a Variety of Events for the Whole Family this Holiday Season

The Town of Cobourg will be hosting a variety of events beginning December 31st to celebrate the New Year and holiday season. All citizens are invited to join!

December 31: First Night Cobourg 2020
The 10th annual First Night New Year’s Celebration is a free, non-alcoholic, family-oriented event offering activities the entire family can enjoy! Outdoor activities begin at the Rotary Harbourfront Park with skating at the rink (weather permitting), and a horse drawn wagon ride throughout the Christmas Magic display with more than 180,000 lights on decorated trees and countless festive displays set up throughout Rotary Harbourfront Park and Victoria Park. The celebration will also feature a live DJ and will conclude with a fireworks display over the harbour at 9 p.m. sharp.

December 31: New Year’s Eve with Elton Rohn
The world’s most popular Elton John Tribute starring Ron Camilleri takes the stage on New Year’s Eve at the Concert Hall at Victoria Hall in Cobourg. Elton Rohn has been thrilling audiences across Canada and the USA. Elton Rohn has headlined over 250 shows including major festivals across Canada and the USA but most notably Las Vegas, where they were the only Elton John tribute asked to play the Elton John convention. New Year’s Eve is the perfect occasion to party with Elton Rohn and the iconic music of this legendary performer re-created by the best in the business! Date: Tuesday, December 31, 2019. | Time: 8-10 p.m.

January 1: Mayor John Henderson’s New Year’s Levee
Join Mayor John Henderson and members of Council to ring in the New Year with special guests including the Town Crier Mandy Robinson and Poet Laureate Jessica Outram. The Victoria Hall Volunteers will be serving Christmas cake donated by Weston Bakery and the Dutch Oven will be providing refreshments. Sounds of the Concert Band of Cobourg will be playing festive music!

January 3: Mayor’s Community Skate
Join us for a free community skate with Mayor John Henderson, Council, and the Cobourg Cougars! Wear your favourite team’s jersey and bring a non-perishable food item for the Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank.
Date: Friday, January 3, 2020. | Time: 2-3:30 p.m.
Location: Cobourg Community Centre, 750 D’Arcy St, Bowl and Pond Arenas.

January 4 and 5: Roger’s Hometown Hockey
Join us for an incredible weekend of free activities to celebrate our local hockey community, meet NHL alumni and special guests, live music, giveaways, prizes and fun for the entire family. Special guests include: Darcy Tucker, Shayne Corson, Steve Smith, Gord Brooks, Jim Hughson and Chris Johnston.
Date: Saturday, January 4, 2020 and Sunday, January 5, 2020.
Location: Cobourg West Harbour, 103 Third Street.
