Fatal Collision West of Warkworth on Sunday

On Sunday November 24, 2019 at approximately 1:00 pm the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P), along with emergency personnel responded to reports of a serious motor vehicle collision involving a black pick-up truck and an orange four door sedan on Concession Road 2 West at County Road 29 located just west of the village of Warkworth.

Preliminary Investigation reveals that the black pick-up truck was travelling southbound on County Road 29 when it made a right hand turn to proceed westbound on Concession Road 2 West. The orange sedan was travelling eastbound on Concession Road 2 West towards County Road 29. The two vehicles collided head on just past the County Road 29 intersection. Both drivers were transported to a local area hospital.

The driver of the orange sedan Kathleen Louise HODGE (age 54) of Trent Hills, Ontario died as a result of the collision. Next of kin have been notified.

The driver of the pick-up truck sustained minor injuries and was released from the hospital.

Concession Road 2 between County Road 29 and Hutchinson Court was closed for several hours while OPP members trained in collision reconstruction measured and documented the scene.

The circumstances surrounding this collision remain under investigation.
