Cobourg Police – Two Males Arrested for Downtown Break and Enter

On September 19th, 2019, Cobourg Police initiated an investigation into a residential break and enter that occurred in the down town area sometime between September 11th, 2019 and September 19th, 2019. After a joint investigation by members of the Cobourg Police Uniform Patrol, Criminal Investigations Branch, and Forensic Identification Services, two adult male parties were arrested and charged on Thursday, September 26th, 2019. The accused parties, Peter James MUNRO, 29 years, and Trevor McVETY, 45 years, are jointly charged with:
1. Break, Enter, and Commit theft – CC 348(1)(a)
2. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm – CC 91(1)
3. Possess Firearm knowing it’s Possession is unauthorized – CC 92(1)
4. Possess Weapon Obtained by Commission of an Offence – CC 96(a)
5. Possess Property Obtained by Crime – CC 354(1)(a)

McVETY was further charged with:
1. Trafficking in property obtained by Crime – CC 355.2
2. Fraud Under $5000 – CC 380(1)(b)
3. Obtain by False Pretenses – CC 362(1)(a)
4. Possession of property obtained by crime – CC 354(1)(a)
5. Possess Firearm contrary to Order – CC 117.01(1)

MUNRO was further charged with:
1. Possess Firearm contrary to Order – CC 117.01(1)
2. Possess Firearm contrary to Order – CC 117.01(1)
3. Possess Firearm contrary to Order – CC 117.01(1)
4. Fail to Comply with Probation – CC 733.1(1)
5. Fail to Comply with Probation – CC 733.1(1)
6. Fail to Comply with Probation – CC 733.1(1)
Both accused parties were held for bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 860 William Street in the Town of Cobourg.
